Our Church History

Brookport Church of God was organized July 31, 1951 under the leadership of former Administrative Bishop James L. Slay. The newly organized congregation bought property on 5th street in Brookport and began the process of constructing a church building. In 1965 the congregation with a vision to expand its ministry endeavors bought property on the corners of 4th and George streets in Brookport which was an existing church building. With the guidance and vision of former pastor, Jerry Holt a new sanctuary was built in 1973 on that same property and the existing church building was converted into classrooms and a fellowship area.

Our vision is to share the love, life and liberty of Jesus. Our mission is to seek ways to serve Christ by serving our community and beyond based on- Acts 1:8, “But will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.”
